About Me

Why did you want to become a teacher?

First and foremost, I LOVE kids! Although I am a teacher, I feel as if my students have taught me more about life and learning than I have taught them. Secondly, I believe every person is born to fulfill a purpose in life and to achieve his/her dreams, and ever since I was a little schoolgirl, my dream was to be a wife, a mom, and a teacher. Lastly, I love making a difference in the lives of children. My goal is to inspire and develop a lifelong love of learning in my students and to prepare them for success in the future.

How long have you been teaching?

I have been teaching for ten years now! So far, I have taught one year in first grade, six years in second grade, and three years in fourth grade.

Where did you go to school?

I graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Minor in Fine Arts. Go Wildcats!

Are you married?

Yes, I have been married for twenty-six years to my remarkably patient husband, Grant.

Do you have children?

I feel very blessed to have four AMAZING children: Caleb, 25, Sarah, 22, Rachel, 20, and Hannah, 18, and a very loving but CRAZY dog, Ginger.

What is your favorite color?

Purple is my favorite color, but I love all colors!

What do you like to do?

I LOVE spending time with my family. So where they are, I like to be. We enjoy visiting new places, watching movies, playing games, and watching the beautiful sunsets at Antelope Island. When I'm by myself I like to write stories, read books, and create learning materials.

What is your favorite book?

This is always a hard question for me because there are soooo many great books! However, my heart will always belong to children's literature. And since I love lyrics and poetry, I really enjoy reading anything written and illustrated by Dr. Seuss! Some of my favorites are Green Eggs and Ham and And to Think That I Saw it On Mulberry Street. Some of my favorite chapter books growing up were Where the Red Fern Grows, and Indian in the Cupboard. Lately, I enjoy reading science fiction, fantasy, and historical fiction.

That's it for now, but if you have any other questions, I would be happy to answer them!
